Self Care, my personal experience.

I was asked a question about “Self Care”?


I noticed through my personal experience that Self Care wasn’t going out to get my hair done, or a massage or the like. I honoured myself by flowing through the emotions that rose up and gently permitted me to feel, breathe, live, and then let it go.


It was my SELF / SOUL that needed care, not the external body - so to speak - but the Internal Self - my true Self that needed the care.


This became my focus and my intent. To be ok with what I was actually experiencing.

Was this normal? Is this normal? What is normal?


Self Care...


These are all valid and very valuable questions. And sometimes, we can get caught up in the “dramas” we are going through.


These are external to the Self. Remember this. When we are “in it” (the chaos), we don’t see, sense or feel a way out of that dark place.


At this moment, self-care is simply “BREATHING”, easy and gentle, down into the belly breathing. I like to do this through the nose, in and out breaths; this allows my body to slow down, the heart rate to slow down, and SELF Caring.

I found a wonderful word that gave me the utmost respect and SELF CARE - “ACCEPTANCE”.

How this sits with you will & can change your life. Remember, too, that when we have “intent” on “Allowing and Trusting the Process” to unfold, we give ourselves permission to let go. This is also SELF Care.


It is not re-living the chaos or drama to allow things to rise up and bubble over. That is definitely not healthy for self-care. In the HONOURING of YOU, the SELF, little by little more unfolds and is released. Enabling or Allowing YOU to heal.

Self Care is vital to an outcome that supersedes your past. Whatever your history was for you. Don’t look back and keep re-living it. That invites toxins back in, and you lose the Self Care Work you made EPIC ground on.

The intent is a word we use often, yet it doesn’t quite add up to the truth or honouring the SELF. Does it. I mean, really; I Intended to go to the bank today - Oh, did I go? No! So how does INTENT truly work for us?

It is in taking ACTION in the MOMENT of the INTENT, INTERNALLY! An example of this: My Intent is to Breathe Deeply for 3 mins. So I do it at that moment. Intent works when we take action for the SELF.

Self is who you are. Not what you think you are. Self is your Soul or your Spirit. It is YOU inside that matters. Not what colour your hair is, clothes you wear, etc. Although to be fair, it does HELP to FEEL wonderful or to feel better. We must take CARE of how we present our SELF to ourselves.

Take a look in the mirror right now. Do you see who you are? Or do you see someone hurt, broken, in pain and scared?

These are all External Aspects of the “person” who others believe we are. Take another look. This time, breathe slowly and deeply, honouring YOU. It’s ok. This is a time of transformation and transition.

Awakening the SELF is like a caterpillar entering its cocoon and transforming into a butterfly. Take your time. TRUST the process. Remember, YOU, the Self, is Worthy. YOU are honouring yourself by doing this.
